The state is: PA

My question is this is there any information available such as a list of all states that support blackballing laws? I'm doing some research on issues involving different states where several people have been wrongly accused, slandered, and blackballed from seeking employment.

A list of any states would be of great help in this matter. It's a very old term but still very much exists in today's society.

Thank you,

      My response:

In the employment arena, the lay term is called "blackball" or "blackballing."

But, blackballing is a subtitle in the legal arena, which comes under the main heading of "defamation," of which libel and slander is made. Blackballing is the name merely given to another form of "libel" or "slander" - - depending upon how it's communicated. There's nothing more egregious about this form of libel or slander than any other form - - the intent of the perpetrator is the same; to damage someone's reputation and cause damages.

All States have laws prohibiting defamation.
