I had a job for almost one year. I quit that job for a new job that was higher paying and a better work environment. After a few months, I was laid off by the new job. I filed for unemployment and received an appeal notice. I believe my previous employer appealed because I quit. The time period that they are assessing my pay does not include my working for the new job. I have an interview coming up and need help about my eligibility.

    • During the interview, just tell the truth. It will be the state's decision whether you receive UI benefits or not.

    • I understand that NJ is very employee-friendly and you should have a better than even shot. I will say that I had exactly the same situation in Maryland and I appealed and the ex-employer (one back) won.:(
